2008 EAST JEFFERSON LEVEE DISTRICT
SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT APPLICATION/PROCEDURES

 

I.                     An East Jefferson Levee District Special Event Permit is required for any proposed organized activity, whether business or personal, which:

 

A.                  Takes place on the levee, levee right of way, shoreline, the batture or any other portion of the levee and/or 

B.                  Requires any objects/materials to be placed on or within 300’ of the levee. 

 

II.                   To apply for a Special Event Permit, the applicant must submit the following:

  

A.                 A completed and signed Application Form (Page 2).

B.                 A signed Terms & Conditions Form (Page 3).

C.                An Insurance Certificate naming East Jefferson Levee District as an additional insured.  The East Jefferson Levee District may require increased insurance coverage depending upon the amount of your coverage, the scale and type of event. 

D.                The processing fee of $50.00 payable by check or money order to the East Jefferson Levee District.  Governmental bodies or agencies and non-profit charitable organizations are exempt from this fee, but must obtain permits.

E.                 If applicant is a corporation, limited liability Company, or a partnership, list principal shareholders, officers, directors, and partners and their addresses.  If applicant is a sole proprietorship, provide owner’s name and address to:

TERMS & CONDITIONS

FOR

EAST JEFFERSON LEVEE DISTRICT

SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT

 

The following terms & conditions for a Special Event Permit must be adhered to: 

 

A.     A copy of the permit must be in the Applicant’s possession at all                            times, and available for viewing by the East Jefferson Levee District. 

 

B.     No motorized vehicles are allowed on the levee.  No glass of any type is allowed on the levee.  No bonfires or campfires are allowed on the levee.  All trash must be picked up and disposed of properly.  All Louisiana Revised Statutes and Jefferson Parish Ordinances apply. 

 

C.    If applicant is an entity the signatory has full authority to bind the entity. 

 

D.    The applicant must restore the area to its original condition to the satisfaction of the Executive Director of the East Jefferson Levee District.  Any damages to the area as a result of the event, shall be repaired at the Applicant’s expense.

 

E.     The applicant agrees to hold harmless, indemnify, and defend the East Jefferson Levee District against any and all damages which arise from the applicant’s activities.

 

F.     This permit is issued subject to the East Jefferson Levee District’s rights and authority granted by Louisiana law, particularly Louisiana Civil Code Article 665 and Louisiana Revised Statute 38:225 and Code of Federal Regulations, Title 33, Section 208.10.
